Little known facts about the Chamber of Commerce
By
Pati
Gonsalves, Amador County Chamber
So often, we assume that our members know what the Chamber
does . . . WRONG! This is the first in a series of several articles
providing some interesting secrets about your chamber.
Secret: The Amador County Chamber of
Commerce is virtually everywhere.
The Chamber of Commerce represents the
“mother ship” for information about our county. Our
callers indicate that we are their first call
requesting specific information. We refer, recommend
and provide answers to such a variety of requests;
it is too many to list. What you don’t know is that
the Amador County Chamber of Commerce is virtually
everywhere, you just don’t necessarily ‘see’ us.
For example, we receive many calls from media, both local and national, searching for
information: "We heard about…", "Is it true that…",
"Do you have…", "Where would one find…", etc., and
we, the Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau,
provide the information and referrals. Our media
friends then contact the appropriate parties.
You read about them in the local news, or in a
tourism publication, trade magazines, internet
videos, and even national news. Just recently, CBS
contacted the Chamber and they interviewed our
supervisors and visited Roaring Camp. These items
and articles are all available to read, view and
enjoy. What you won’t see is the Amador County
Chamber logo, or name. We are the invisible partner
in these matters.
The Chamber of Commerce is one of the most
powerful county organizations as it is member-driven
and overseen by 22 of the county’s influential
movers and shakers. Your chamber is ever-present,
attending and participating in community events,
government affairs, business seminars, Grand
Openings and ribbon cuttings. You may not realize we
are there, but there is almost certainly a
representative from the Chamber in attendance.
So, as a Chamber member, rest assured that
we are out and about, always there, acting on your
behalf and that your membership represents an
invaluable investment.
Next issue: Chamber staff works 7 days a week (sshhhhhhhh…)
