John L Bree is a third generation California grape grower and winemaker.

The Bree family got their start in the wine industry at the turn of the century when John L. Bree’s Grandfather Horace O. Lanza began the first family winery in Buffalo New York. John L Bree learned many things from his Grandfather which sparked his passion.  He took this passion to Oregon State, & then to UC Davis where he received his degree in viticulture and enology.  He has traveled the world as a consultant in vineyard & winery operations; from Egypt, the former Yugoslavia, Tunisia, & India to name a few. His travels later led him to Sutter Creek CA. wherein he fell in love with a piece of land that is now known as Sierra Ridge Vineyards & Winery.
